This year I decided to start a tradition in our family for the month of November and Thanksgiving season by creating a "turkey jar" to help us remember all of our blessings. So, for family home evening a few weeks ago we talked about being thankful and made our jar. Caden got to color a picture of a turkey, then we cut it out and taped it to a mason jar- so simple and easy, but cute and perfect for Caden. We each add a piece of paper to it everyday stating what we are thankful for, and then on Thanksgiving we will go through and read them. Caden loves adding to it and we love to watch it grow fuller each day!
The name "Turkey Jar" came about because of Caden. One evening we were sitting on the couch and I whispered to Caden to ask his daddy if he had put what he was thankful for yet in the thankful jar. But, this is what came out of his mouth instead: "Dad, have you put your turkey in the jar yet ?" So, after a lot of laughing we decided to call it our "turkey jar" and put our "turkey" in it every day. Got to love kids and what they come up with.
We hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and remember all the "turkey" in your life!!
